DAY SEVENTY-TWO

Back to work from another three day holiday and another challenge rises to make me bonkers. Seems our new guy decided not to show up to work. He called an hour late and said he was stuck on the side of Stadium Drive. Unfortunately, for him, we have caller ID here at the office and it plainly displayed his home telephone number. Tracie decided enough was enough and he was properly sacked. Now we get to go through this whole process again. It amazes me how Michigan can have such a high unemployment rate and we can't manage to keep one temp here in the office. Oh well, all he was doing was scanning so it didn't adversely affect the workload around here.
After work I made a lovely spaghetti with a sausage based sauce that went over like a lead balloon at The Waltz Compound. At least the home made garlic bread was a big hit. That must count for something.
After dinner I mowed the lawn. Before dinner Martha and I went to the store and traded in a ton of soda bottle for dryer sheets and a box of ice cream sandwiches for her and the kiddies. I haven't been able to stomach ice cream for quite some time. Makes me nauseous. Which is a shame because once in a while you really need some ice cream.
It was the first day of school for the kiddies, except for Dennis who was suspended for an incident from last year. Martha and I had to meet with the vice principal to decide his fate. She said he had the whole summer off to think about what he had done so he could come to school tomorrow. Poor Dennis! He thought he got to lounge for the first three days of school and all he missed was the blow off half day. Funny stuff.
Dan was happy he got the teacher he wanted. Dandelion and Delia seemed all right with their classes and their friends were in them.
All in all a hectic day for everyone here at The Waltz Compound.
