DAY SEVENTY-ONE

Another three day weekend and nothing planned. I stayed in bed for a long time and Turner Classic Movies had a biography on director John Ford that was fascinating. Then Martha and I needed to go and get the boys a new, cheap DVD player. Now, three years ago I got one for twenty bucks from ABC Warehouse. It lasted for three years. Things should go down in price, not up. After driving around the countryside we ended back at Wal-Mart paying thirty bucks for pretty much what twenty bucks had bought three years ago. Bah! We also needed dog food and milk and toilet paper.
Got all that and went home for a while. I burnt the extras for 300 and Hot Fuzz for Stew and dropped them off at his place. He had the Doctor Who movie that FOX put out a while ago. It was good. Better than I thought considering that Eric Roberts was going to be The Master, but it worked.
It was a laid back day and I was glad for it. We did make the kids clean their rooms because they were pig stys. Really! All they were missing were actual pigs. And they start school tomorrow. Well, everyone except for Dennis. On the last day of the previous school year this kid who had been tormenting Dennis all year finally pushed that last button. Dennis beat the crap out of him. This got him a three day suspension at the beginning of the next school year. I think it would have been worse if they would have delayed his vacation for three days, but what are ya gonna do? He also got grief because he's a green belt in Judo. Why didn't he just arm bar or chokehold the little shit until a teacher got there? Oh well, we are all geniuses in hindsight and maybe he will learn to just behave. Yeah, I kinda doubt it. He's one of those slow simmer then explode kind of guys. Like his dad.
Back to work tomorrow. Whooppee!
